Bcz I am so surprised over the lat weeks results. Ya i have my favorites and Gayani was not always one of them! but still i was sure she was talented and her talent plus her looks were enough to stay in the competition for some more try outs!!
the results made me so upset of our country men's choice!!! Bcz there are some who should have left the competition before. Personally I dont think that Nadini should have even made it to the top twelve. Wathsala also should have left but she is talented than Nadini.
Basically i hink if we could vote against lest qualified to the best qualified then the 'Superstar' would make herself a 'Superstar'- something matching to the dictionary meaning.

When selecting top 12 in season 1, none of the girls were included. This time, the organizers "hard coded" the program, to select 6 girls to the top 12 purposely. So, according to your logic, if there wasn't any gender "preference" for girls, ideally the top 12 would have been all boys this time too.
What you suggest is, Sri Lankan men SMSed Nadini because she was beautiful & attractive? I don't think so. There were beautiful girls even in the season 1. Why then, SL men didn't voted them?
I think, if season 2 also conducted on a "gender neutral" basis, none of the girls would have selected for the top 12. That's the truth. Now, don't blame Nadini's fans, just because you are sad about Gayani.
In season 1, there were more talented boys than Shihan. But shihan attracted a lot of SMS from girls who were crazy about him. So, why are you now complaining about Nadini?
In superstar, "physical attraction" is definitely a qualification. Not only the ability to sing. If you want the superstar to be selected on "ability to sing" basis only, then let the judges decide the superstar, without asking people to SMS. When people SMS, they take into account things like the physical appearance (Shihan, Nadini), and personal sympathy (Ajith Bandara, Darshana Pamod, Gamini Susiriwardena). That's a integral part of the process of selecting the superstar through SMS.
I'm somewhat moderate on the final 12. WhenI'm listening to the new songs produce for these top 12, I feel that Nadini stands-out from her unique voice. Even though all other ladies are highly tallented, I cannot see any different to most of these female vacalists that we have alreay in the market.
Superstar just not mean that only the best singer will get there, there qill be some other 100 odd attributes to be a superstar.
Nadini have a "unique" voice which music industry needs in Sri Lanka. We're bored with Uresha, Nirosha. Teesha changed it a certain extent, but we need more of them.
of course Surendra will be the most successful person so far and Pradeep Rangan is going neck to neck with him.
Again, do not vote for sympathy, it does not give any advantage to the music community and neither to the fans.
Well, for me Gayani came the closest to being the complete package of being a vocal artist. No other girl in the 12 has shown the control and clarity as she has shown throughout the comp.
This doesn't mean people have knowingly rejected Gayani. just that others were propped up more through SMS.
The reasons for that could be varied too where some of the contestants run large scale canvasing for their cause and in some cases people get attracted to sympathy aspects etc. At the end final judgements are made based on polling results and doesn't matter if you sang "Ba Ba Black sheep" as long as you are able to get enough SMS votes through the system.
Unlike what the majority may be thinking about Surendra, I don't think he has done anything outstanding as far as performance goes. His existance in the contest is mostly due to his voice being similar to "Jothipala" (Remember Ajith & Priya). Guys like Pradeep, Sanka and Buddhika had to come up with outstanding performances to make their case. It is very likely that Surendra will win but it will not make him the best of the lot.
In essence a competition of this format is bound have irregular reslts and therefore you won't get to see the best Singer/performer win. Singing is just a tool used to attract peoples interest in this instance.
