The Winner of Sirasa Superstar Season 3

If you are wondering who won Sirasa Superstar Season 3 Grand finale, we are happy to announce that in the grand finale held this evening, Shanika Madumali was awarded as the Sirasa Superstar Season 2 titleholder. Shanika Madumali contested with Arjun Rukantha for the title of Sirasa Superstar Season 3, and the winner was announced this evening at the grand finale held at CR & FC stadium.

The Superstar Show host, Kamal Addaraarachchi announced that he will retire from the show, and he said that this is the last time he is hosting the show.

Let’s congratulate Shanika Madumali for becoming the winner of Sirasa Superstar Season 3. Let’s congratulate Arjuna Rukantha who performed well, but came a little bit short in SMS votes to become the winner of Sirasa Superstar Season 3.

Sirasa Superstar Season 3 Grand Finale to Be Affected by Parliamentary Election?

Today it was announced that the Parliamentary Election in Sri Lanka will be held on April 8. If the elimination rounds of final 12 continue in this flow, the grand finale will be held either on first week or the second week of April. Both these weeks are going to be busy schedules for most Sri Lankans, because of the upcoming Sri Lanka General Election 2010, and the Sinhalese and Tamil new year.

The popularity of Season 3 has dropped drastically compared to the season 2, and the organizers doesn't want it to drop any further because of the election.

It is reported to us that the organizers are considering postponing the grand finale towards the fourth week of April, to avoid any conflicts of interests by masses of Sri Lankan public.

Unacceptable Early Eliminations in Sirasa Superstar Season 3

We are seing more and more unacceptable eliminations from Sirasa Superstar Season 3. Kasun Preemal was "unbelievably" eliminated, and Roony had to face the same faith too. Organizers has suddenly decided to introduce a wild card round to do justice to people like Meena and Kasun Preemal. But some of the other contestants who already qualified for the final 12 are opposing this. In a Facebook group dedicated to Lakmini Udawatte, her fans and relations are criticizing this decision of having a wild card round at this stage. But from looking at a point of view of some unfair eliminations, we have to accept this as a good move. Lakmini Udawatte is aggressively marketing herself on Facebook. I've seen Rukman Asitha setting up cut-outs and banners all over Colombo. Can we identify real talent by gaining more SMS through advertising? This is the question.

Hope Milan will be out of the final 12 at the very first round so that we can see some deserving candidates competing for the crown!!!! Sad that Kasun was out and not Milan. I hope at least Champika will be in the final 12. Even people like VIndhika, Himaroo and Janinda are much more talented than Milan. Also Chandrika & Samitha are totally biased towards Milan and Chathura

Agreed, other than about judges who can do v little in this damn scenario. True, specially Chandrika and Jagath had some kind of favours to season 2 candidates and their type of songs singing people. Last year's Season 2 Surendra debacle has made them embarassed to an extent that they cannot effectively evaluate and praise the similar type singer from Chilaw, Udesh Nilanga. May be for them Udesh is kind of a ghost of Surendra. I expect Champika, Udesh, Rukman, Dumal and the guy from Katana (can't remember the name) to go ahead specially as far as the Final 12 guys are concerned..

Agree, Milan does not deserve to be in final 12. Kasun chamikara was very much better than Milan...Next time for the three male finalists there will be a huge competition..My choice is Primal, Udesh and ...cant remember the name.. However Rooni is also good

Today Eranda Pathum from SSS season 3 came to my work place and sang few songs. That boy is amazing and I’m glad that he came back to the final 28 via wild card entry. Wish to see him within final 12. Rukman & Dumal also in final 12. So I'm not totally disappointed about the results up to now. But I prefer some one else than Milan.

Yes, Eranda Paethum is also a good one.. Thanks for reminding the guy from Katana's name.. He's Kasun Primal and I think he should survive atleast few more rounds as he's been very well so far.. Re: girls it is hard to see really exceptional kinds except Shanika Madhumali and Meena Prasadini that I can remember well.. Milan had been nowhere before.. but with the round just finished he managed to do atleast something with Milton's song.. Still it's way behind Kasun's talent... SL fans also txt for sympathy and other factors, may be Kasun's cosy life style appearing clip before the last contest cost him the SSS survival, leading all sympathy votes being driven to Milan whose clip included a quite modest village style. One can argue what the heck that can do with singing talents... but you never know what is around the corner when comes to these things in SL with the sort of emotional thinking of our people. :)

In a way getting too much worked up of this SSS competition is also a trap... Did anyone ever notice 'fake' fights going on among judges and Kamal, the announcer. Amal's been v good as a judge, but at the same time, you can smell a different image building campaign is also on, getting fans to believe that judges are for the justice at any cost when it's not actually the case. Samitha who was trying to be too funny over candidates at one time (I hate her attitude towards Udesh Nilanga in early stages by laughing at him rather openly) has suddenly become a so sensitive, emotional angel whose tears are falling with no break given a moment required by Sirasa camera. Chandrika is being v nice aunty all the time reminding us of a 'good cop' vs bad (who's Amal here) while Jagath is nothing but a classical music fanatic whom is being portrayed as a master of music. Ev'thing looks pretty commercial, but Sirasa must be given the credit of doing it such a professional way which even other channels would not dream of doing in a such a fashion.

You guys are spot on with your comments about contestants. In fairness to Milan, the guy did a good job with the last song he sang (Milton's song). Kasun Chamikara is better but he bungled it on that day. I dont think his posh life style cost him the place. He is better than Milan but on that day he sucked. Chathura is totally useless. He should not have been with the top 28. Amal Silva is way better than all these chaps (Chatura, Milan and Kasun) put together! For the last three slots. I reall really hope Kasun Primal will get there. Amazingly talented guy and hopefully people will reward him. Udayanga is not good enough to be among the top 12 but he deserves his place among the top 28. This should be it for him. He does not deserve to progress beyond this point. Champaka should definitely go to the top 12 I like Rooney but I think Arjuna Rookantha did a good job in the last round. He is likely to move forward and Rooney will have to hope his football talents will be enhanced by taking up "Wayne Rooney's" name. LOL

Meena Prasadini is not in final 12......... !!!! For me Chandrika is correct. Dilki, Thulani and Meena should be gone to 12. I think Meena is a must in final 12 at any cost. It was a lovely voice ( like a seenu) and attractive singing. What is your opinion?

Yes Roshan Meena should have been there. I think she is better than Dilki. I am soooo glad that they kicked out Dushanthi Rambukwella. Hated her imitation of Bharatha Natyam hand movements! LOL those hand movements and finger positions signify a totally different meaning and have nothing to do with the meaning of the song. What a joke!

Kasun Primal must have been in final 12. I am really sad about the SMS-decision of him. SMS-voting has become another general election campaign. I can see number of cut-outs and banners hanging by the roads for some of these competitors. The one having bunches of friends seems to win the SMS-race. I am happy of Rukman as he has the real talent plus people support. On the other hand Dumal has won 100% votes of classical music fans. I believe Shanika Madumali has also got similar sort of votes, luckily. INDIKA SAMANMALEE seems to be another dark horse with touching voice. I hope she will get a chance to be in final 12 over Chethana and Tereesha.

Look Like Shanika Madumali is going to be the SSS. This is not about Votes. Sirasa will make the desision. This time it is a girl and she is Shanika. Anyway I'm happy with any body other than Ruwini Ranreka who should be dropped when selecting the 100. But Sirasa wanted her to market and that's Y they were showing her clips all the time even from the first round. May be personal connections too. This is really BAD.

I am sad to see Ksun Primal getting eliminated. A great singer and a HUGE loss to the competition. Even Champaka and Rooney should not have been eliminated. I have no problem with Arjuna Rookantha because he sang well last time. But why in the hell is Udesh there? Or even Eranda Pethum? Eranda can sing but those who got eliminated are wayyyyy better. By the way I like Shanika Madumali very much. A very talented girl and looks like it is all her efforts. She doesnt even seem to have a teacher Ruvini Ranrekha... LOL... what a loser. She should ot have been even among the 100. Her last performance was a JOKE. Even judges dismissed her. She should not be among the top 12. Vote anyone but her. She cant sing... she howls..

It is very sad to see Kasun Primal's elimination from SSS.... but I don't think it's because of Udesh... My selections on that day are Kasun Primal, Champika and Udesh... Udayanga and Rooney were the least best and Arjuna and Eranda were slightly better than those two.. I don't realise why Judges' mouths don't get opened to give Udesh the deserved comment by him... He sang a song which was not even popular after Jothipala sang it.. But he did a great job in making that song far more appealing with his identity.. No one has got the slightest idea what actually is hidden within him since he hasn't showed his full scale yet... He did a really good job with the combined song of "Aadare hithenawa dekkama", but even on that day he didn't get the comment he deserved, may be his voice is identical to Jothi which judges must be thinking he's imitating. Is it a curse to have a voice identical to Jothipala...??? Is it something inferior to appreciate Jothipala songs singing candidate..?? If his voice is more close to the hearts of fans and if that is the voice that fans do digest without reading between lines, what would be the wrong with it??? For me the best judge of a song is your ears, not anything else... All technical junk do not necessarily apply to fans who purely enjoying 'listening to a song'.... No point of what and what technicality you secure in your singing if you cannot touch fans' hearts... Also we do not strictly go by pandithaya's comments in enjoying a song if the song it self doesn't speak to us, our hearts - not minds... But I'm sure Udesh did a very good job in getting us listening to a song which we never bothered to listen even when jothipala was singing.. However my choice of Sirasa Super Star at this stage is undoubtedly Shanika Madhumali.

I think Udesh got whatever the comments he deserved, his last song was really a failure and how come we know the talents hidden in a guy if he does not show it up. But the one before the last he was good. I have three choices Dumal, Shanika and Ruckman However Shanika sings only Suja Atthanayakes songs: she should sing other songs as well..........

Yeah Rukman's a big hope too.. My argument is there was lot of air and expectations from the judges around ones like Ishan Udara even when they repeatedly failing unlike Udesh... Udesh did the best justice to the song he sang (sa ri ga ma pa) and it's the song's problem - not Udesh's. It looks like Udesh hasn't got the ideal 'putha' face to get cuddled at the judges panel. Re: Shanika, one doesn't have to sing variety of songs to be doing well in a singing career... Can Amaradeva sing Rukantha's songs or vise versa or will Neela W be effective in singing Nanda Malini's songs?? If someone's singing the style familier to him/her self "very well" that's what is expected than being an average singer who can sing a variety of songs in an average capacity like we experienced in season - 2, don't you think?? Some people even without much performance survive because of the air created around them by judges' exagerrating comments and other factors such as family backgrounds, looks, disposition, social skills which is very misleading..

Sorry chinthaka, what I said was Shanika sings only Sujatha Attanayakes, but I have no question about her talent at all, though I am not sure about hidden talents of Udesh. I still believe she should sing songs from other singers which matches her style..I am sure she will show those colours if she gets selected for the final 12..And when it comes Amaradeva, Nanda Malini , Neela and Rukantha, we all see there styles after they have performed for decades... We really do not know how they started In my opinion versatility is a gift and many are not born with that....and they can choose the best way later of course when they are mature..

Versatility is of course good, but it shouldn't cost the best singer following one style to a rather average singer who is versatile. It's good if someone can have many singers' songs matching to his/her voice, if it doesn't should that cost his/her chances..??? I'm pretty sure Nanda, Amaradeva, Rukantha all of them stuck to one styles from the very begining which they better knew than experimenting, and specially it's unaffordable in a competition.

Dumal, Shanika and Rukman should be among top three and Shanika have every right to be a SSS in this time. Anyway have to wait till she selected to final 12. I hope people will vote for this little girl talent and if she faces the same destiny as Kasun that will be very very bad for viewers. Ruwani was a total failure and I couldn’t even think how she selected to final 48 which choose by judges. Most of the boys are far better than some of the girl with final 28. Udesh voice is beautiful but I did not enjoy his singing on last round and I thought he is the only one to be eliminated at that round.

Sorry Chinthaka no one says contestants need a Putha face to win. Udesh is talented and certainly has the ability. But it is about those who were eliminated who are far better than Udesh Between udesh and Kasun Primal, Udesh is no where near him. Yet Udesh went on to join the final 12 and the better singer in Kasun Primal had to go home. Same with Champika. he is better than Udesh This is why we are all suggesting that the decisions in the last round were unfair. It is not a reflection on Udesh it is just that we as viewers would like to see better singers progress

I have no problem accepting Kasun Primal and Champika were little higher than Udesh in last round... But, not anyone else.... He was better than Arjuna and Eranda who got selected. I mean Udesh's singing performance is way better than Arjuna who is struggling with voice lowering to the extent no one can hear and Eranda whose singing is not so higher than an average. Roony and Udayanga were out of comparison, so they're obviously out.

My previous post has been deleted, don't know if it was an accident by me or someone purposely did it. Anyway I rate Kasun Primal, Champika and Udesh as the best 3 of 28th night whom should have been selected which unfortunately did not happen. Arjuna Rukantha is there thanks to the aggressive campaigne he with his brother launched and his apparent good touch with Sirasa people and judges. Otherwise his voice is getting lowered horribly when he was singing Diganthaya leaving only the high pitch part heard by us. Eranda Paethum is not good enough to be in final 12, so do Rooney and Udayanga. As far as the boys are concerned now we have, 1) Rukman 2) Dumal 3) Milan 4) Udesh 5) Arjuna 6) Eranda Rukman, Dumal, Udesh are the only people whom can be expected to give good fight over there in Final 12, while Shanika is the only girls' counterpart, but has the capacity to beat all. I strongly believe it's your ears and heart that should play the major part in selecting who is best, NOT your perceived knowledge of someone's music technicality. Judges should have been a panel which represent a variety of music styles, otheriwse it is unavoidable some candidates ending up with step motherly treatments like Clarence, Jothipala etc had to go through at the hands of classical music 'osthads' then.

Wow.. that's the greatest news ever I have heard... There have been 7 candidates whom unjustifiably removed, re-instated by judges.. 1. Kasun Primal 2. Champika Priyashantha 3. Kasun Chamikara 4. Meena Prasadhini 5. Indika Samanmali 6. Rooney 7. Ranil Jithendra Except that last one, Ranil J - I think all other 6 elections are 200% correct decisions... What a great competition ahead of us.... Hope public will get rid of bad apples this time... Ones to go out firstly are Ranil, Chethana, Milan, Dilki, Eranda, Lakmini, Thulani Shanika, Rukman, Kasun Primal, Champika, Dumal, Kasun Chamikara, Udesh, Meena, Rooney, Arjuna, Indikaa, Anupama are the my choice of Final 12..............

Hi Chinthaka, Thanks. I am happy they got those talented boys and girls back (except Ranil). I guess Ranil will be making up numbers. He will be kicked out. This is what is confusing me. Out of the 16, they still have to get them to final 12 (unless of course they make it a final 16 this year, which is also fine). if they still insist on final 12, then some of those originally thought they were in the final 12 will be kicked out and that would be a bit unfair. I don't think they can kick out whom got selected originally to Final 12 unless with a competition. At last SSS looks somewhat better that I'm happy about. I just couldn't stand about the struggle that Shanika had to make to get selected to final 12 being such an amazing talent. SSS 3 has just gone crazy. They selected 24 singers out of 48 and then some by judges.. now selected 12 and another 4 from judges.. This is very unfair for the people who got selected as final 12.. I know there were unfair decision when they selected the final 12.. but now they have named the final 12.. it's over.. then they come up with this new shit.. doesn't matter if all 12 singers were really bad, they have given the final word.. and the singers, they are getting ready for the real game. But I think this shouldn't have happened.. if this goes like this why can't they take Amila Lakmal back?? It should be possible if the judges have that much of a strength to appeal for the final 12 decision and get the rest back into it.. This is not fair.. Decision is a decision.. If it was done, it's done now.. Can't take back what's happened.. It's peoples decison and judges shouldn't be involved in any sort of selecting process for the final 12.. What will definetely happen is people gonna hate SSS 3.. I don't think lots of people got their interest in this now.. I love to see Kasun Primal instead of Milan. Meena instead of Dilki. But they are already in final 12.. I don't wanna see their dreams die.. If it's judges who make the decisions, make if for all final 24 and get them to compete again.. I'm sooooo dissapointed about whats going on with SSS 3 and to get rid of the past mistakes they do more mistakes..

Otherwise we will end up watching a very dull competition without the real talents. This is like making a corrupted poll rectified. So it won't be an injustice to anyone; if someone is really talented then they should get selected facing the 'real' competition, not with the mere luck.For me it is no point of getting even crowned as SSS while there are widespread allegations of injustice. So, the bottomline is one who's truely attracted to many should be the Super Star, not the one who have highest number of social networks like it was reflected in recent votings. We knew season - 2 majority didn't accept the final decision in SSS, so it was an utter shame to become SSS in that manner. Therefore in my view, ev'one should take this decision positively and give a good fight only by singing well to secure their next levels, so quality of this competition will never deteriorate.

It is good see some of most talented people again. It will be tough competition with this new addition. However I prefer new rule of Sirasa. The wild card entry is a good thing who just miss the round not because they lack of talent but because lack of vote. Sirasa introduce this final 12 round from season 1 and after that every body was just followed it & now they break their rule to create a new one and it will be good for viewers who loved to see good competition.

GuysHere is the confusion (at least as far as I am concerned). Do we have final 12 or final 16? Are they going to have a competition between final 16 to establish a final 12? In my view they should have a final 16 rather than final 12, but Kamal keeps talking about final 12. So it looks like a final 12 will be selected out of final 16. Bloody hell, if you change rules like this there will be a class action law suit (if it was in the US)! You never know someone who was originally in the final 12 who happens to get eliminated might even sue Sirasa!!But hey, I am glad guys like Champika, Kasun Primal and Kasun Chamikara to be back. Any idea how this is going to be??? A final 12 out of 16 or just final 16? What do you think?

It must be Final 16, otherwise it's an injustice to those who injustifiably got votes :)Guys I'm really glad that all four I guessed were selected (Champika, Meena, Primal, Chamikara) Now who do you think as first to go from 16 making the real Final 12... There won't be such final 12, I guess; but when you get rid of one by one there will be 12 at a given moment except these,- Dilki, Chethana, Milan, Eranda OR Lakmini it's time to pack your bags IF people judge you correctly UNLESS you make a miracle in coming rounds...cheers

Chinthaka, I also think it will be a final 16 rather than a final 12 as such. It would be a bit unfair otherwise!You are spot on about Dilki, Chthana and even Milan. Chthana should not have been there. Inoka is wayyyy better. I like Milan but I have to admit that there are better singers in the group.I am so so glad that Ruwini is not there! We wont have any more HOWLING!By the way, what is with crying this Champika fellah! No need for that no? I mean he is actually talented no? LOL

I am really happy of two Kasuns, Champika, and Meena but sad about Indika's elimination. She is behind only Shanika and Meena. She might fail to sing to the eyes. I wish her good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know.. but how to accomadate Indikaa when it's only 4 out of 7 was allowed.. She was the 5th in that 7.... She should have been elected at the first place without Dilki or Chethana.

I know Milan sang his last song quite well.. but he really didn't perform well from the begining.. Yeah he's way better than Dilki who's nothing but a 'nelawena holmanak'. :) Even Chethana, Lakmini are way average singers compared to lost jewels such as Amila Lakmal and Amal Silva.Well, Champika's behavious is he was being too emotional I guess... may be he had too many expectations solely focused on SSS as if he can't afford to go back.. I know it may not be wise, but that's the nature of many people in Sri Lanka.. They are way emotional and it forms a part of the beauty in their lives too. :)

Elvis Presley's Early Exist from Sirasa Superstar Season 3 creates Unrest Among Fans

The heat is on. Sirasa Superstar final rounds are on. The panel of judges are expected to pick 48 "talented" singers to be put into "public domain" for SMS rounds. However, the usual controversies have already started. This time it's the "Elvis Presley Drama". Yes. You heard (read) it right. Elvis Presley is (was) singing in Sirasa Superstar Season 3, and he created the first ever controversy in the Sirasa Superstar Season 3 final rounds, last weekend.

Elvis Presley is coming from a remote village in Kurunegala district, and he appear to be a humble and down to earth rural youth. He is talented, and he is courageous (as many rural youths in Sri Lanka). He survived the first round screening of Sirasa Superstar Season 3 very narrowly. It was a close call, as many of the judges had negative comments of him. How ever the judges gave him a chance to go into the 2nd round and he responded really well, and unanimously elected to the 3rd round. From that point onwards, Elvis Presley was improving every round of the competition. He was showing true dedication, compared to some of the "better looking" contestants.

He was picked to the final 1000 and the final 100 of the Sirasa Superstar Season 3. At last week's contest in the final 100, he sang "Raathriya Uda Wuna" which is originally done by T.M.Jayaratne. It wasn't a brilliant performance compared to any of the final 12 contestants of Sirasa Superstar Season 1 or Season 2. But it was a brilliant performance at the final 100. Compared to many who sang that day, it was a brilliant performance.

But, sadly for Elvis Presley; it was the last night he was allowed to sing at Sirasa Superstar. Out of 4 judges, 3 felt that he is not good enough for final 48. Only Amal Perera spoke on Elvis's behalf, and aggressively opposed the other three judges. Finally, the judges decisions are the last. Elvis had to go. Others who performed far worse than Elvis went on to the next round. If this happened at a SMS round, Sirasa could have wash their hands by saying "it's people's decision". But now what? Is this people's decision? If you read this forum thread on www.yahaluwo.com you will realize almost 100% of the people expressing their views are against this decision. What's your opinion? It was unfair!

There are injustices and grave injustices. What has happened to Buddika Ushan last night, was purely a grave injustice!

Buddika was some one in my opinion, who deserved to remain in the last 4 contestants, if not the last 3 (along with Surendra, Pradeep and Amila). But yesterday’s elimination was shocking, but not so surprising from another angle.

In the chat room I mentioned last week, this is the best week that we can prove ourselves about the allegation faced by Nadini, on manipulating SMS results, by sending multiple SMS’s through her own SIM cards.

And there’s another allegation towards Gamini, that he’s been supported by a political group, who wants to see Sirasa TV mess up with this program. This political group, want to see Gamini to be the superstar, so that Sirasa can’t “market” the guy.

With yesterday’s result, it seems both these allegations are having some portion of truth involved.

Gamini, in my opinion sang last Saturday’s song very well, but he does not deserved to be placed in the last 6, so early. He definitely deserved to be in the least 3 SMS earners.

Buddika on the other hand for me, was the second best performer last night, after Amila. But unfortunately, based on the SMS results, both Amila and Buddika was in least 3 SMS earners.

From the opinion poll section of this site, it’s very clearly indicated that Gamini and Nadini are the least popular contestants remaining in season 2. But in actual result, these two get into the next round so easily.

All the credit for Chandrika Siriwardana, for making that final comment on Buddika. She made a valuable hint for the audience that Nadini and Gamini should go home very soon.

But will that be really matter? There’s some thing wrong in the selection system. Some thing seriously wrong, and the organizers of the program should quickly pay attention to this.

Otherwise, it may cause discouragement for young, talented singers who want to take part in the Season 3, but not having enough wealth to purchase extra SIM cards, or not having the back of certain political groups.

Sirasa Super Star : Deep Reflections of Loving Fans

What SSS means to lot of them out there, and what Surendra means to many……

To most out there, the Sirasa Super Star competition is the topic of the day, and many days to come. Out of them, there are also many who keep the stars very close to their hearts. Unknowingly these wonderful feelings that the fans share, are made multiples, each time, they hear their super star sing. To them, their most loved star is the uncrowned Super Star.

As far as this blog goes, one such individual who has touched the hearts and souls of many is Surendra. His romantic voice, his equally emotional presentation, his vigour, his unmatched simplicity all, at times, seem little too much to bear. His fans, say, his “voice takes them out of this world.”. Some so passionately in judging his talents say, “I’ve out of words, I feel my soul just drifting through that melody, as Suren starts his songs.”

So Surendra is indeed lucky. As once one of the judges said, “We are indeed lucky to be with you”, after he sang last weeks, oba laga inna laga inna mage wasana. We feel that too.

So what’s the magical touch of Surendra?. It’s too hard to express, and fans have their own interpretation of what Surendra meant to them. So each see him, the way they want to see him. Wonderful. At last, our society has been novel in accepting individuals leaving many of their differences out.

But a last word to Surendra, is that you are gifted. Make your talents add more shine and brightness to your life. Opportunities are not there quite so often. Make use of the opportunity you’ve been offered. Lots of them out there look forward to see you week, and week after. Isn’t that wonderful, Surendra?. It’s doesn’t happen to all of us. It had happened to you.

Do not fall into cheap popularity. Guard your ethics, and work to your conscience. Give time to develop and improve your ideals. Then only you will fulfill the dreams of a real super star. Be there to shoulder the needy. The day you choose the path of a different caliber of a super star, of a charismatic, romantic, and a down to earth man, whose priority is for himself as well as the society he lives in, Surendra, then you will be remembered as a great son, a wonderful brother, and above everything, a humble human being, whom everyone would be proud to know.

Gayani Madusha Tennakoon, 24, is from Slave Island. She is a past pupil of St. Paul's Milagiriya and had won many singing contests during her school days. She said: " I could not believe that I was eliminated so soon. It was a moment of deep sorrow but it was the public's decision and the nature of the competition." Two of Gayani's songs Sitha Binduna Da and Dikkasada Pembari are currently being broadcast on Sriasa FM.

Wathsala Madhumali, 17, is the youngest competitor out of the 12 finalists. "I will be sitting for my O/L this year. I want to pass my exams. Then I would pursue my talent for music," she said. "I thought that I would at least get the chance to be a part of the final six but now I do not regret what had happened. I am glad that I was able to achieve this position even as a schoolgirl. I am already a star." Wathsala is from Puttalam.

Nalinda Ranasinghe, 29, is the youngest in a family of three children. He hails from Kandy and was educated at Uduwela Maha Vidyalaya and Ampitiya College. "My father is my music teacher. I play the key board, guitar and the English Mandolin," Nalinda explained. "It is a privilege to be amongst the final 10. It means that am a winner already."

Maheshika Lakmali, 18, is from Aheliyagoda. Her family includes her mother, two sister and brother. Maheshika's father, who had been a businessman, passed away during the period that she was chosen for the final 48 contestants. "The people of my home town helped me a lot. They are the key behind my success," Maheshika expressed her gratitude.

Manjula Nivanthi, 30, joined the final 12 from Hikkaduwa. Her talent for music was handed down to her from her ancestors, her grandfather and father. "My father is no longer with me. He passed away when I was very young. I sing Sinhala, English, Tamil and Hindi songs for a three piece band named 'Extreme'," Manjula pointed out.

Buddhika Ushan Premaratne, 27, is the only child in the family. He is from Ampara and is a member of the police squad at the Police Department in Torrington, Colombo. Buddhika said: "My goal is to contribute something meaningful to the music industry. I believe that I would be able to carry on with my occupation with my musical interest."

Pradeep Rangana, 24, possesses two dreams for his future. To achieve the title of "Sirasa Superstar" and to become a doctor. Hailing from Ratnapura, this young man is currently engaged as a third year medical student at the Karapitiya Medical College. "Music and medicine are two fields. I hope to continue in the music scene for the next five or six months but I have no wish to neglect my studies. To succeed in both is of importance to me," he observed.

Amila Nadishani 27, is from Embilipitiya. She said that "Sirasa Superstar" built her confidence towards her talent. "My father was the driving force in my life. He guided me towards music before passing away six years ago. The success that I have achieved today is a part of my father's dream," Amila said. Amila is a member of the upcountry 'Swarnaga' Women's musical group. She sings Sinhala, English, Tamil, Hindi and Bangladeshi songs.

Surendra Perera, 26, used to work at the secretariat in Chilaw but due to his constant travelling to take part in the competition, he had to give up his job. But according to his, the sacrifice is well worth it. "I was seven years when I first performed on public stage.
My favourite song was Pawena Pirisiya by the Gypsies. We travelled in a van to the places where musical concerts were held. I slept until my turn came and it was my father, who is now no more with us, who would wake me and wash my face before setting me on stage. If he had been with me till this moment he would have been a great strength for me," Surendra commented.

Nadini Premadasa, 19, is an old girl of Musaeus College. She sat for her A/L last year and joined the contest from Rajagiriya. "I want to enter the University of Aesthetic Studies," she explained. "I had no wish to enter the competition. It was my mother who sent the application. I took part without much interest but it was after I was selected for the final 100 that I developed a passion for it."

Sanka Dineth, 20, is from Kalutara. He studied at Tissa Madya Maha Vidyalaya, Kalutara and Sri Sumangala Boys' College, Panadura. He is engaged in further studies in Marketing and hopes to take up the Vishadara exam."My habit had been always to present something new. I feel a sense of satisfaction by engaging in something that I could claim as my own. That is my aim in joining this competition," Sanka said. This youth is the keyboard player in a musical group named 'Drizzle'. He is on the verge of collaborating the Western style with the Indian.

Gamini Susiriwardana, 45, joined the final 12 from Bentota. He is employed in singing at hotels and in countries abroad. Surprisingly, this vocalist who is always ready with a smile said that he had never studied music. "I have been to Denmark, Italy, Germany, Hungary, Austria and Maldives.

Long journey for a boy with a large heart; Surendra Perera. (exclusive)

From 54,000 contestants arriving to the top 12 at the competition of the Sirasa Super Star season 2 is no easy task. However tough the story was…6 lucky girls and 6 lucky boys did make it to the top 12.

Among them, many have requested close touch with one man, whose voice takes us back to that golden age where H.R. Jothipala( lovingly called Jothi) made miracles in the minds with his silvery voice. Yes I am talking about Surendra Perera... a man with a unique talent and mesmerizing voice.

At the competition up to date Surendra has been able to capture many heats, regardless young or old with his voice.

One of my long awaited dreams being fulfilled, here I was in contact with Surendra, finally I had the opportunity of popping out all the questions I had for him.

First of all I should say that the 28 years old lad was very funny and amicable. He answered the questions with his own calamity and without much ado.

When asked of his entrance to the scene of Sirasa Super Star, Surendra stated that it was not with a lot of hope he entered to the first round where his application was forwarded to the competition by one of his close sister ‘Dilki’. However, things took a turn to Surendra with him making it to top 100 and the confidence has increased with the top 48 and passing hard struggle to enter in to the top 12.

His preference for Jothi’s song was because he noticed that it is with his songs that he can capture the hearts of the people while developing his own unique image in their minds and adds that those old hits are his personal favorites.

However, ready to face the tide as it comes is the motto of Surendra! therefore he is not going to be a mere Jothi imitator, he says he is ready to face any challenge he is given, and is ready to sing those of other talented singers in the Sri Lankan music arena; a chance to show his versatility and personally for me it was this fact was clearly seen at the stage drama round, where he sang ‘Goove Ganu Paradai’, Surendra of course can sing songs of other genre than Jothi’s.

Speaking of his capturing stage performance, Surendra states that it is not that he planned to do those jigs at the stage but the rhythm of the music vests those moves on him.

He states that the competition has opened a door to a clear path where his natural talent, something which had never undergone single teaching session was polished up and made a sparkling diamond. For Surendra it was the 'song cassettes' of those eminent singers which were accompanied in his practicing sessions.

Surendra feels all his fellow competitors are highly talented singers and they are all working hard to prove the strength of their vocal talent to the world. He personally believes that if he wins the competition or not he has already won his place in the minds of Sri Lankans, and humbly believes that only one person can be holding the title of ‘Superstar’ and is ready to accept the fact as it is.

Surendra says that if he becomes the Superstar, the weight of the converted trophy will not swell his cool head and just be the old Surendra who used to swirl around with his bike at the Chillaw roadways and with a smile he adds that ‘it is only if I BECOME the Superstar’!

He adds that the competition brought him an excellent opportunity to mix-up with the eminent of Sri Lankan music scene and the panel of judges are kind, supportive and conductors with their hearts wrapped on the development of all of them. Surendra thinks for all these Sirasa should be given his heart felt gratitude.

His family being the top of his helpers list Surendra adds that all the people in Chillaw and all those who sent him votes at the competition are the ladders in his success, while expressing his heart felt gratitude for all of them Surendra requests their cooperation throughout the competition. Surendra on return promises to give his best in the future sessions as he did from the start.

Well!!!!! Lets all wish our hero will attain his due place at the competition!!!

Manjula Nivanthi Misses out from the top 7

Once again proving that the opinion poll section on this site is accurate enough for us to predict the future of Superstar season 2, manjula Nivanthi was eliminated from the competition, last night. Within the 6 days of opinion poll, Manjula earned the least number of votes from the fans on this site, and approving that result, she was the one to leave the competition this week.

How ever, I still believe Nadini Premadasa and Gamini Susiriwardana are riding their luck. They are very lucky to be survived in the last 7, given that their poor performances in last 3 consecutive weeks.

Nadini was at his poorest performance last week, breaking her own record for poorest performance in the previous week (Hindi tunes).

In my personal opinion, Pradeep, Buddika, Surendra and Sanka were the best performers in last weeks show, in that particular order. Without a doubt, Surendra was the best entertainer, but Pradeep and Budduka performed with least margins of error.

We will open the Opinion poll section, within the day and stay tune to vote for your favorite superstar among the last 7 contestants.

Nadini Should Have been the one to go out

Yes. I firmly believe that should have been the decision yesterday. She deserved to be in the final 12, and she’s truly talented. We need her in our music scene. But she should have been the one to go out, last night.

In the order of my personal judgment, Pradeep Rangana was the best this weekend. (In “Hindi songs in Sinhala” theme). His choice of song was excellent, and he performed his best ever performance on this show so far.

Earlier, I had some doubts about Pradeep’s talent, bur lask week’s performance cleared most of them.

Then is the shocking judgment! I thought Maheshika was only second to Pradeep in Saturday’s contest. But, surprisingly, the people (SMS) decided on a completely different way.

Maheshika was so far, shaky in this competition but on Saturday she did a better job.

In the order of my preference, (Based on Saturday’s performance) next comes Surendra Perera, Buddika Ushan, Sanka Dineth, Amila Nadishani and Manjula Nivanthi.

I thought, Nadini and Gamini Susiriwardena should have been the last 2 to remain on stage, and Nadini should be the one to say goodbye.

There’s no doubt that all 12 finalist are talented. But I think, Nadini Premadasa and Gamini Susiriwardana has gone too far a little bit, than they should have deserved. Gamini should have left the competition before Nalinda Ranasinghe, and Nadini should have left last night. (Meaning, Nalinda deserved few more weeks on stage)

How ever, let’s see what’s happen in next week. If (majority) of the fans to keep faith on Sirasa superstar anymore, Nadini and/or Gamini should say goodbye very soon.

Two superstar fans guessed correctly that Nalinda will be the one to quit this week. Namely, they are "Lak" and "Iroshi". Since neither of you forwarded an email to your friends,to be entitled for doubling the gift value (as required in the contest terms & condition), the winner will only get Rs 250/- worth of KIT/Hutch/Mobitel/Tigo reload (You name it).

To claim the price, please leave a comment (with your email address) on this post with the same Google ID's you used when making the earlier comments. I will cross check the validity of the Google ID's, and get back to the winner to arrange the rest.

Nalinda became the first male singer to go out

They all sang well, but ultimately one has to go. And that one happened to be Nalinda Ranasinghe. Fans on this site, nominated Nalinda as the one to go out even last week. But surprisingly, he passed to the top 10, even without being falling into the least 3 SMS receivers. This time, further verifying the decision of the fans who voted on this site, Nalinda was the one to go out after a tough call.

Maheshika Lakmali earned the least preference according to our opinion poll, but I thought she sang reasonably well on Saturday, to assure a place in top 9. It was a good decision by the fans, that giving her another chance.

I think, Manjula Nivanthi is in deep trouble next week, unless the one's who secretely admire her come forward and vote their SMS to Manjula. Many fans I speak with admit that, Manjula Nivanthi is the best out of 6 girls in the last 12, but now for 2 consecutive weeks, she was picked at the least 2 SMS receivers.

Out of the 10 singers on Saturday, I thought Amila Nadeeshani did the best job. Her song was simply amazing, and, her presentation on stage was excellent. Chandrika Siriwardana and other judges, correctly said that she did not deserved to be in the least 3 SMS receivers.

Next a point about Pradeep. According to the opinion poll on this site, Pradeep is the second most popular singer after Surendra. Pradeep is talented. But at times, I feel his talent is more of a "trained talent" than a "natural talent". People like Surendra Perera, Amila Nadishani and even Gamini Susiriwardena are naturally talented singers. But, Pradeep and Sanka Dineth to me are two singer who "bought it hard", rather than inherited it from birth. Pradeep's voice, sometimes sounds like too unnatural to me. Looks like, he's trying to imitate some one's voice, but not singing in his own voice. This was evident, specially in the group song they sang on Sunday (Deekiri, Deekiri)

How ever, Pradeep is the second most popular singer in this competition so far, but I personally now having other thoughts. In my personal top 3 list now are; Surendra Perera, Manjula Nivanthi and Amila Nadeeshani. But never know what will happened. The way things progressed so far, Manjula will be in a critical situation next week. Her fans got to be "act" practical; not just talk good about her.

I really liked the way Nalinda faced his departure from the competition. It was really courageous, and the way it should be. His selection of final song was brilliant. His words should be admired by every young citizen in this country. "I didn't lost anything. Actually I won lot of things". All the best Nalinda! We will look forward for you as a competent singer in the future.

The writing was on the wall when Wathsala decided to take the challenge of singing Nanda Malini's 'Ammawarune" at the Saturday's contest. Her pitch was never close the original version of the song, and never mind about the voice. Duplicating Nanda Malini's voice is never an easy task, and Wathsala was clever enough not to fall into that trap. She sang the song in her own voice, but it was clearly an underperformance comprised to her previous performances.

Her singing never touched my heart with the true spirit of that song. I am saying this, because I am a great fan of nanda Malini, and that song (Ammawarune) in particular. I have listened to the original version of that song may be for over 1000 times. So I spotted the difference fairly quickly.

Many will possess criticism against Nadini, but as Latha Walpola clearly mentioned, she (Nadini) touched the heart of the listener cleverly with that song. If some one still believe, Nadini is there in the top 10, simply because of her cute face, I am not going to agree with that anymore. Surely, she came of age as a singer last weekend.

My greatest surprise was Manjula Nivanthi's selection in the least 2 SMS earners. In my opinion, Manjula is the best out of 6 girls in the last 12, and she deserve more acceptance from the viewers than that. Even in the opinion poll held on this site, Manjula earned 21% of the votes, just second to Surendra Perera.

Surendra was simply amazing. And he will continues to amaze us through out the rest of the competition. Gamini Susiriwardana survived another round with the sympathizers votes, and we hope (for the sake of all the fans of SSS) that he will not become another Ajith Bandara.

In my personal opinion, Nalinda & Pradeep was lucky to escape into next round, without any hassle.

The opinion poll will resume this evening, with allowing you to vote for the remaining 10 competitors. This time we will allow you to vote for more than one contestants (As in the real competition also, people do SMS for more than one competitor)

Please encourage more and more SSS fans to vote on this site. Because, it will give us a transparent view of the public opinion. Sirasa never reveal the actual popularity of contestants. But, here on this site you can test the real popularity of Superstar contestants.

Who will be eliminated this week?

The opinion poll on this site continued for about 4 days now, and so far 195 people have voiced their say (With 2 more days to close the poll). Surely, 195 is not a big enough sample to predict this weekends results, but I guess this gives us some basic indication for what's going to happen. Surendra will probably secure his dream of becoming the superstar, without any difficulty but there are few contestants who are living dangerously on the line. According to the opinion of those who voted on this site, Nalinda, Maheshika, Amila and Wathsala are among the ones in the least prefered contestants so far in the cometition. Most likely, one of these 4 will have to leave the cometition in this weekend. Surendra Perera, Pradeep, and Sanka Dineth are clearly will remain in the competition for few more rounds, if not for the final mega show.

Many criticisms are there for Nadini's votes, and some people think Nadini Premadasa attracts lot of SMS's from men, purely due to her beautiful look. Some counter argue, Shihan was at the same advantage from girls (and women) in the season one.

What ever happen, we should know the result by Sunday night. Let's watch Saturday's cometition and see. If any one like to publish ideas about the competition like this one, please send me an email to sirasasuperstar@gmail.com.

Are all in there who should be there is the question!

Bcz I am so surprised over the lat weeks results. Ya i have my favorites and Gayani was not always one of them! but still i was sure she was talented and her talent plus her looks were enough to stay in the competition for some more try outs!!

the results made me so upset of our country men's choice!!! Bcz there are some who should have left the competition before. Personally I dont think that Nadini should have even made it to the top twelve. Wathsala also should have left but she is talented than Nadini.

Basically i hink if we could vote against lest qualified to the best qualified then the 'Superstar' would make herself a 'Superstar'- something matching to the dictionary meaning.

It's been a while since i last updated this site, and thank you for all your concerns about "why no new content?".

This is why I always keep on requesting our regular readers like malithi and nicky to become contributing members of this site and keep on updating the site. Because, every time I'm getting bit busy, the site get stagnated at one position.

was just surfing and came across this site,must admitt that sirasa super star did bring out some talented young people into the spot light even with the much talked about 'happenings' we wittnessed last year(mind my typing for im half asleep).im just so pissed about people calling shihan mihiranga a fake,blessed only with looks.its a shame that these people are not familiar with the concept in being a sucsessful entertainer you must need looks aswell(im not a shihan fan but my fiance looks a hell of a lot like him!so good for me!:P) anywayz...wheez out!

This is really unfair. Mr. Priya Suriyasena is one of the greatest singers we have from early 70s. He still signs his songs as he did ever. As one of his fans I am really agains what Ajith does to him. Ajith could become someone cos he has Priya's songs and he has to be greatful to him and honour him. Nevertheless he started singing Priya's songs shows his ungreatfulness and meanness

Sirasa Superstar Fanclub is becoming more and more popular everyday. This site is now popular among many Sri lankans living abroad. Most of them love to watch the Superstar clips on this site.

I got few queries from some people living in other countries, how do I add these clips to the site. It's so simple with youtube and video blogging.

Poor Judging in Season 2

Rukantha, Nirosha and Jagath trio did a tremendous job last time compared to the boring judges selected by Sirasa for the season 2. I was watching last Sunday's Sirasa Superstar second round competition and was disgusted about the judges. Athula Adikari was almost like fallen asleep. He didn't have any valuable comment on the competitors.

Ananda (of Siha Shakthi) was comparitively better, but they all have missed the basic principle adopted by the judges of Season 1. "Be straight forward".

All in all I doubt this time whether we get a good selection of final contenstents for the Superstar title, like Shihan, malith and Ajith.

Given below is are the comments made by the top ten Sirasa Super Star Finalists before we (people of SL) made the final dicision.
They are ten youngsters....with one goal. Their dream was to become a super star. For the first time in Sri Lanka, reality TV came in to life on Sirasa TV as they are tremendously inspired by the program called 'American Idol' which gives birth to young pop stars in America.
And even the Sri Lankans had a chance to witness a whole heap of undoubtedly talented youth and adults on the same platform. Thousands were auditioned, but only a handful was lucky. Based on the public vote, ten young boys were selected as the top ten purely for their immensely powerful voices and lively performance.
Having pulled through many excruciatingly difficult moments, the top ten find their voices again, but this time, just to speak a few words about their experiences during the Sirasa Super Star Contest.

Ajith Bandara (29) Having formed his own group in Kurunegala, Ajith says he loves music, "I was confident but it's a great feeling to be among the top 10, having sung in front of professional musicians. It's sheer luck to be the super star, but only one person can be that. Even if I don't win, I think I've come far enough to last a lifetime in the field. The senior musicians have helped us tremendously."

Shihan Mihiranga (20) A student from De Mazenod College in Kandana says music is something that runs in his blood," my father is a music engineer who also plays in the army band. I've won All Island prizes during school days for classical singing.
My friends had sent and application for me for the Sirasa Super Star contest and I didn't know anything about it.
Anyway, I was confident that I'd get selected in the three initial rounds. But after they started the voting system, it became a little tough. Nevertheless, the contest has given us a lot of experience. In Sri Lanka it's really difficult to come to the limelight through a media, but we've already got a taste of what it's like to be famous." Shihan says that he got a good response throughout the contest, "I'm quite confident about my singing, but now it requires more than that.
You've got to be talented and earn the public vote. You've got to be appealing to the crowd. Everyone wants to win but it'll be just one person.... and if I'm the Super Star, I'd do something really unique and give my very best, especially to the youth."

Malith Perera (18) An advanced level student of the National School in Pannala, says he was into music from his childhood, "I applied for the contest and have been desiring to become the Super Star, since. I'm very confident and happy about my improvement.
Having come this far, I don't think I want to turn back." Talking about the most difficult moment in the contest, Malith says it's the minute which decides if you are a winner on not. It's a very strange moment which could be overwhelming.
I've won many competitions in school but never felt so difficult. But I know I'm lucky to be surrounded by those who support me and if I win, that'll be the best victory... And I've got a big journey ahead of me, anyway."

Amila Perera (21) Who comes from Kandy says that he knew next to nothing about the contest till he got the letter from the organisers, "My folks had applied and I had only to come down to the workshops.
My father is a music teacher and I've won competitions back in school. The first round of the super star contest wasn't so tough but the second round was. But after having overcome that obstacle, I took all my chances to come this far, I think that I'm already a winner.
Actually, only one person can become the Super Star and we still don't know what will happen. It's a huge break anyway and I won't give up but will forge ahead taking all my chances."

Darshana Pramodh (16) A student from Mahanama College, says he sings in school, "I'm good at it so all my friends including my parents thought I should give it a shot," he says adding that he took part especially to gain the taste of a real contest and the experience.
"I was happy to be among the chosen lot and it's a big deal having come this far. It's not about winning or losing, it's about being able to face whatever comes your way. It's nice to be the super star and if I do get it, I'll take it as a positive start to live my life in a better manner.
It's anyway made a difference in my life. My teachers, parents and musicians like Dayan Witharana have helped me a lot. I'm already a satisfied person.

Theekshana Anuradha (20) A student of St. Aloysius College in Galle, Theekshana says that he was busy with his Advanced Level Examination and it was my father who had forwarded an application for him for the contest, "and when I saw the crowd at the workshop which was held prior to the contest I couldn't believe that I'd make it this far.
Actually I wasn't into singing as a kid, but I played the flute, and in 2004 I even got the All Island prize in flute. And I'm still in the national youth orchestra. I started singing in 5th grade at school.
Well, in the first round of the Sirasa Super Star contest, the judges said even though my singing was good, my voice wasn't powerful enough, which made me practise more.
I sang with the tape and increased the volume of the cassette player and tried to sing louder than the tape. The judges haven't pointed out a single mistake since then. And I was confident that I'd be among the last 11 contestants".
Theekshana says that he never let the 'Super Star' pressure get to him. Instead he took one step at a time, "I never thought or let myself bother about winning, but I concentrated on every step carefully, and managed to come this far. Even if I don't win, I know there'll be other avenues for me, considering how far I've come and the fame I've got.
I'm a very happy person to have come so far beating both young and old. Nevertheless it's hard not knowing if you're in or out. That moment is so difficult, that even if you're in, its happiness is almost lost in that previous fearful moment. But there's heaps of encouragement and backing from the senior musicians. They help us improve and forge ahead."
He also adds that whatever happens, he'll stick around to give the public who brought him this far, his very best.

M. L. Manjula Pushpakumara (20) Having come all the way from Polonnaruwa Manjula says that his brother who resides in Kelaniya forwarded the application for him, for the contest.
And that it was hard to believe the fact that he'd come this far, considering the crowd he saw at the initial workshop, "I flipped when I saw the hundreds of thousands of contestants, the very first day. I never lost hope though... And I became very confident as I kept getting selected.
And even if I can't be the Super Star, I know there's hope for me, as I've already received a good training and loads of experience which is more than enough.
Manjula says he's happy to be recognised wherever he goes, "There's lots of response. And it's nice to be recognised. Even if I don't get to be the Super Star at the end, I'll stay around so that I can improve as a musician."

Nishantha Nanayakkara (25), Having come from Uda Walawe, Nishantha seems quite content as he feels that people from areas like his, don't get such chances, "We got major publicity and the public know us well.
I think I've already achieved my goal as my dream was to become a musician. The first time when I sang, it was a little scary but with the sort of experience and training I had received in the past, I pulled through. Jagath Wickramasinghe said I was talented, during the first round, and that helped me to come this far."
He says that he's very proud to be among the top 10, "All of us are super stars now, people know us and we 'could even do our own thing. I'll be a little sad if I don't win, but the contest has given us much more. We get lots of support from the senior musicians and they've even promised us to lend a helping hand whenever we need it".

Varuna Madushanka Peiris (22), Who works at the Colombo Swimming Club accounts department, reveals that he already has a name in the field as he sings at the hotels and is a great fan of Bathiya and Santhush, "I've never taken part in a concert, but B & S inspired me to apply for the Super Star contest. But I never thought I'd be chosen.
My first song was one of B&S songs and they praised me so much and said I did a better job. We've been given such a lot of publicity that I've already got many invitations to perform. I also did a radio jingle. My target is to be the super star and make a big difference in the music field in Sri Lanka. But I've made up my mind to face up to anything that comes my way".

Asela Eranda (21) A student from the Engineering Faculty, Peradeniya, says he's the happiest to be selected out of thousands of contestants, "I had no big hopes when I took part, though. I feel I've come a long way and even if I have to go back home next week, I won't be sad.
All of us get a good feed back. When I sang one of Karunaratne Divulgane's songs at the first round, he called me and said I sang better than him."
A very satisfied Asela says he's determined to stick around irrespective of the result, and continue his music, "I hope I'll be able to balance both my studies and music. Actually my friends back in the University help me a lot to catch up what I miss these days. All in all, it's good to be a winner".
